About

Luni Sabharwal - Luni ChhochoonA working professional with more than 15 years of professional experience. I started out as a Radio Jockey and a Video Jockey right after high school with a desire to become a journalist one day. That never happened for whatever reason and I joined Bachelor studies in English Literature and Political Science which I left incomplete. I still enjoy looking through my literature books, some of which I have saved in all those years.

I completed my higher education from Melbourne, Australia.. the best way forward that time was to take up Tourism studies as my parents those days had a successful travel agency in Kathmandu, Nepal. However, I quickly fell in love with the books I read on Marketing as an elective subject. As soon as I completed my Diploma in Tourism, I swiftly moved on to study Marketing. After so many years of professional experience, I personally believe Marketing as a theory is much more romantic than when you are hands on, on the field.

I have a strong inclination towards capability development and believe that learning is an attitude, I consider myself a forever student and strive to learn everyday whether it is from a learned or a little child. I believe any organisation with a strong culture of learning and capability development is on its way to success. I’m extremely passionate about all areas of learning and professional development.

I love reading, whatever time I have for myself, I try to read… and write, things that come in my mind, my thoughts basically. I can be a critic but I consider myself a tender heart. I am a thinker and I am a person of integrity, a non negotiable value I live by. I am a huge food lover and most of all I am a mother of a handsome boy.

I like to spend my time doing crafts and puzzles with my child, we make sure to spend quality time together every day. We have a dedicated time for reading books before bed, reading has now become a ritual for us. He looks forward to choosing the books he wants me to read, I look forward to inculcating the habit of reading in him and the special time we get to spend with each other.

In year 2016, I joined Volunteering Solutions, an organisation that provides Gap Year, Volunteering and Medical Internship opportunities to young and old. Volunteering Solutions provides services in 26 countries around the world. By the third quarter of 2019, I was relocated to London to run the company’s UK & Europe operations, currently engaged in offshore business development and strategy.

I spent nearly 12 years of my prime career in one of the world’s largest Oil and Gas companies, ExxonMobil, working in their Fuels & Lubricants business. The matrix structure of the company allowed me to gain extensive exposure and experience in various areas of the organisation within India and Asia Pacific region – Customer Services, Marketing, Process Architecture, Learning and Professional Development.

I mostly enjoyed creating and co-creating Content. Ran Assessment Centers. Delivered and facilitated Programs across all levels for Employees and Channel Partners. Administered Programs. Managed e-learning platforms and Learning Management Systems. I have been a Certified Trainer for specific programs of Achieve Global, Huthwaite Inc., and ExxonMobil.

Through add-on roles at different times, I worked across functions to lead India Internal Controls, Safety and Sustainability Initiatives, and Women Interest Network for ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants in India.

In my free time I like to write, things that I see, others that I think, some that I observe and some that intrigue me. And when I’m not writing, I am always looking for new learning opportunities. This is me!
